Lower Back Pain

Pain in the area surrounding the lumbar region of the lower back.

Many medical conditions can cause back pain. However, lower back pain can occur after spending long periods of time on your feet, from being overweight, having improper posture (standing or sitting), from quick or straining moves of the lower back, or having improperly cushioned and supported feet.

For some, the combination of stress and strain placed on the lower back during walking and running, especially without proper support for your feet, coupled with the shock that can travel up the legs to the lumbar region can aggravate and strain the muscles responsible for supporting the back and as a result cause pain.

For lower back pain caused by being on your feet all day:

  • Maintain a healthy weight and strengthen the back and stomach muscles
  • Wear shoes that fit properly and provide adequate support
  • Use insoles or inserts that provide a combination of shock absorption, cushioning and support for your feet

Not medical advice, see a doctor if problems persist.
