Some types of insoles are designed to be used with a variety of different types of boots, including cowboy boots. Read the product description for the insoles to see if they’re intended to be worn with boots.
In general, it’s recommended that most insoles, including insoles for work boots, be changed every six months or at the first signs of wear. Check the manufacturer information for details regarding your specific insoles.
In order to measure the insole of a boot, it’s best to take out the insole if it’s removable. Once removed, take a tape measure and measure the full length of the insole from the longest point at the top of the insole to the end of the heel.
Follow the instructions from the manufacturer carefully before putting insoles into boots. In general, insoles can usually be placed into boots following these directions:
Some insoles can be trimmed in order to achieve the best possible fit. If your insoles don’t lie flat in your boots, they may be a little too big. Trim only a small amount at a time to avoid taking off too much. After each trim, re-insert the insoles into the boots and test the fit.
